Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to FASN immobilized on solid support.
The epitope recognized by IHC-00305 maps to a region between residue 2462 and 2511 of human fatty acid synthase using the numbering given in entry NP_004095.4 (GeneID 2194).
Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is a multifunctional protein that is mainly involved in catalyzing the synthesis of long-chain fatty acids. FASN has recently been viewed as an important protein involved in carcinogenesis as it has been found to be constitutively active in subsets of carcinomas and is associated with a poor prognosis. The inhibition of FASN activity in cancer cells promotes apoptosis and thus may play a role in maintaining cancer cell survival.
