Additional Product Information

TAR RNA-binding protein 1 (TARBP1) is a probable S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase which methylates RNA molecules such as tRNAs. In case of infection by HIV-1, it binds to the loop region of TAR RNA, a region also bound by RNA polymerase II. Binding of TARBP1 and RNA polymerase II to HIV-1 TAR RNA is mutually exclusive, suggesting that TARBP1 may function alone or in conjunction with HIV-1 Tat to disengage RNA polymerase II from HIV-1 TAR RNA. TARBP1 may act by methylating HIV-1 TAR RNA [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/ Q13395].

Alternate Names

probable methyltransferase TARBP1; TAR (HIV) RNA-binding protein 1; TAR RNA loop binding protein; TAR RNA-binding protein 1; TAR RNA-binding protein of 185 kDa; TRM3; TRMT3; tRNA methyltransferase 3 homolog; TRP185; TRP-185

Applications

All western blot analysis is performed using 5% Milk-TBST for blocking and as antibody diluent. Primary antibody is incubated overnight.

Western blots of cell lysates are performed using Goat anti-Rabbit IgG Heavy and Light Chain Antibody (Cat. No. A120-101P).

Western blots of immunoprecipitates are performed using Goat anti-Rabbit Light Chain HRP Conjugate (Cat. No. A120-113P) with 5% Normal Pig Serum (Cat. No. S100-020) added to the blocking buffer.
