CEACAM8/CD66b member of the CEACAM subfamily of the CEA family of proteins. It is a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion in a calcium-independent manner. It is expressed by neutrophils and eosinophils, and mediates heterophilic cell adhesion with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules, such as CEACAM6.
