CENP-B is a centromeric protein that specifically binds the CENP-B box, a 17-base pair DNA sequence found in a subset of alpha-satellite DNA repeats. CENP-B associates with CENP-A and CENP-C in centromere specific nucleosomes to form the pre-kinetochore. CENP-B auto-Antibodies have been identified in sera from patients with autoimmune diseases.
