eIF3S8 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit 8) is one of 13 non-identical subunits that comprise the eIF-3 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor-3) complex. eIF-3 plays a role in ribosome dissociation, the stimulation of mRNA binding, and the stabilization of the ternary complex for the initiation of protein synthesis. Alternate names for eIF3S8 include eIF3 p110, eIF3c, and EIF3S8.
