SMG1 Antibody

 
mRNAs that prematurely terminate during translation are eliminated from the cell by nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). NMD is mediated by a complex of factors that includes the protein Upf1. Upf1 is phosphorylated by the phosphoinositol 3-kinase (PIK)- related kinase SMG1 and is critical to NMD. Alternate designations of SMG1 include serine/threonine protein kinase SMG1, hSMG-1, lambda/iota protein kinase C-interacting protein, lambda-interacting protein, ATX, KIAA0421, LIP, and 61E3.4.
