Regulatory factor X-associated ankyrin-containing protein (RFXANK), also known as RFX-B, is a 33kDa subunit of the regulatory factor X (RFX) heteromeric complex that activates the transcription of major histocompatibility class II (MHC-II) genes by binding MHC-II promoter elements. The RFX complex consists of RFXANK, RFXAP, and RFX5. Mutations in the genes of this complex result in a lack of MHCII transcription and lead to the severe combined immunodeficiency disease, Bare Lymphocyte Syndrome (BLS).
