PP2A is a major serine/threonine phosphatase that is implicated in the negative control of cell cycle progression. It is a trimeric holoenzyme that is comprised of a catalytic, structural, and regulatory subunit. PPP2R1A is the alpha isoform of the 65kd structural subunit of PP2A. The PP2A catalytic subunit complexed with PPP2R1A can associate with various regulatory subunits to form trimeric holoenzymes with distinct activities.
