PKD3 is a member of the protein kinase D (PKD) family of serine/threonine protein kinases that belongs to a subfamily of the calcium-calmodulin kinase-like superfamily. PKD2 and its family members are activated by phorbol esters and diacylglycerol generated by PKC activation. PKD3 has been found to be involved in trans-golgi network and vesicle trafficking.
