PIMT, also known as TGS1, was originally identified in yeast as a protein involved in RNA cap trimethylation and the transfer of methyl from S-adenosylmethionine to m7GTP and m7GDP. Alternate names for PIMT include trimethylguanosine synthase homolog, nuclear receptor coactivator 6-interacting protein, PRIP-interacting protein with methyltransferase motif, PIPMT, CLL-associated antigen KW-2, hepatocellular carcinoma-associated antigen 137, TGS1, HCA137, NCOA6IP, FLJ22995, and DKFZp762A163.
