CTCF is a versatile 11-Zn-finger transcription factor that may function as a repressor of transcription, activator transcription, or regulator of genomic imprinting. CTCF is a candidate tumor suppressor associated with invasive breast cancer, prostate cancer, and Wilm’s tumor. Alternate names for CTCF include transcriptional repressor CTCFL, CCCTC-binding factor, brother of the regulator of imprinted sites, BORIS, zinc-finger protein CTCF-T, CTCF paralog, and CTCFL.
