PAF49/CAST is subunit of RNA polymerase I. PAF49/CAST has been shown to interact with activator upstream binding factor (UBF) and plays an important role in rDNA transcription. Alternate names for PAF49/CAST include RNA polymerase I-associated factor PAF49, DNA-directed RNA polymerase I subunit RPA34, anti-sense to ERCC-1 protein, ASE-1, CD3-epsilon-associated protein, CD3EAP, and MGC118851.
