NUFIP2/82-FIP is a FMRP (fragile X mental retardation protein)-interacting protein and a component of FMRP-mRNP associated complexes. FMRP is a RNA binding protein that is thought to play role in posttranslational regulation and is the cause of fragile X syndrome. Alternate names for NUFIP2/82-FIP include FMRP-interacting protein 2, 82 kDa FMRP-interacting protein, cell proliferation-inducing gene 1 protein, FIP-82, FLJ10976, and KIAA1321.
